Next level shit? – Google Street View
I couldn’t stop swearing when I walked into work this morning and found out that Google had released Street View in the UK.
The software is similar to Google Maps, but instead of just being able to see things from above, you can see thing’s on street level. It’s done by driving down every street in a van with four cameras fitted to the roof, each one pointing outwards. The photos are then mapped into the Google Maps engine and voila! It’s currently only available in certain areas, London being one of them. This could be pretty epic for checking out places to ride.
Have a look around, it’s pretty incredible. Check out some of these well known London spots… I just spoke to spot hungry Fit rider Owain Clegg and he said, ‘Oh shit, that’s me caught up forever…Square Eyes.‘

Anyway, there are a ton of spots available to find, and the whole process just got a ton easier…

Sweet now this is what I’m talking about. Maybe a section on this site showing all the different street spots around the country.

I’d definately get on what George is on about. That sounds like a top idea. You could build a whole database. Give people the ability to ‘rank’ a spot and the top ones would show first. Throw the option to add tags like ‘wallride’ ‘bank’ ‘bank hip’ ’stairs’ etc. And then in detail search options you can find exactly what you want.

Sounds good but think about it. say u find a great spot th@ really few people know about, (i kno i’ve got a few) and u wanna kill it on ur next vid, anyone could find it. u’ve gotta admit its f*ckin annoyin wen ur fave spot gets taken over by chavs. happens all time here. the best spots are out of sight and the local junkies seem to love smashin bottles and slingin needles everywhere wen they find em. kind ov a double edged blade ‘eh?
