After a wet and muddy occasion last year, this years NASS festival looks to have pulled out a power move. They have the booked the sun to make a one-off special personal appearance!

Over the weekend of the 11th to the 13th of July chaos will once again fall over the leafy Somerset town of Shepton Mallet. Riders and public will flock to see the likes of Harry Main, Mark Webb, Daniel Sandoval, Matt Priest and a host of others all taking in the ‘festival’ atmosphere (as well as the 5 music stages!).

Once again this years NASS promises to bring some of the biggest names in BMX to our shores all battling it out on a bespoke park course and a mammoth dirt set up. Wash this all down with a heavy helping of bass and a few take away burgers and you’ve got yourself a ‘VERY IMPORTANT’ good time.

Big thanks to X Games/ESPN for taking care of us all weekend we had a great time, it was non stop.

 Things kicked off early doors with the street final. Everyone rode real good it was awesome. But the course lacked a focal point, a rail down stairs perhaps? It was geared up for skate street league to the detriment of BMX. Either way shit got done and the riders were immense. Cheers lads.

 Alex Kennedy dropped a backwards crook to regular crook to 180 out this weekend!

 We stopped by Moto X best whip contest. It was crazy, the crowd loved it and no doubt TV land were blown away. Incredible entertainment.

 Bas Keep in the Mega Ramp finals tonight. I felt like a 13 year old watching this stuff it was so good.

 Trying to get a pint was getting harder by the hour. Always worth it in the end.

 Garrett Reynolds wins another gold. He was in such good form today, a pleasure to watch in person.

 Thousands of people queuing up to be thoroughly let down by pseudo athletes in loud cars.

 The whole Rally X event was cancelled due to rain!!! To be fair Ken Block gave it a good go but everyone else spent more time shrugging their shoulders and kicking wet mud around while everyone watched from the stands.

 Dave Mirra hit the course like a lost pizza delivery guy. Here he is again, unable to get his vehicle in gear.

 The rescue truck got stuck in mud. Seriously, people spent their money to come and watch this stuff!! Such a disappointment. The organisers need a plan B here instead of PRO walking the venue. This thing was a disaster it sucked.

 Dudes just sweeping up water! If Top Gear get hold of this story someones GETTING SACKED IN THE MORNING….

Meanwhile in Britain, punters pay in to a venue and get entertained properly. Maybe keep this in mind next time rain halts play lads!!!

 We stopped by the Freestyle Moto X event, it’s pretty clear to see that these guys have taken the WOW factor from BMX dirt. While this stuff is happening I’m not sure BMX dirt contests stand a chance. This is just way too epic for the general public, they loved it.

 The showmen rev around the track like peacocks looking for instant intercourse. To be fair they were unreal. The BMX world somehow needs to use this to their advantage when selling complete bikes to little kids. Not sure how this can be achieved, if I had the answers I’d be a millionaire, ish…

 Not a pen in sight at a BMX jam of this calibre.

 The Red Bull portable sky scraper offered up some incredible views of the park course during the finals. I kinda missed everything as I was eating all their great food and drinking lots of their delicious free beer. You can take the lad out of BMX but….

 What I did watch though was Gary Young clinching an X Games gold medal. He was awesome, such a great ambassador for BMX. Love him.

 Dig Mag’s Fred Murray kept us company in the media lounge today. Did you know Fred has NEVER had a cup of tea. Let me repeat that. Fred Murray has NEVER had a cup of tea. Someone seriously needs to get the kettle on, the poor lad much be parched.
